Bloomwire is our own game: a calm pipe puzzle set in a sunny garden, live on Google Play. Every bed has a glowing seed on its edge. Tap a tile to turn it, carry the light from the seed to every tile, and when nothing is left dark and no pipe points at nothing, the whole bed bursts into flowers.
There are 240 beds across eight garden worlds, from a spring meadow and a lily pond to an old grove and an autumn wood. Each world has its own road on the Journey map, its own scenery and one new idea to learn. Every bed can earn three petals, for solving it, for solving it in the fewest taps and for solving it without a hint. A Daily Bloom brings a fresh puzzle each day, and finishing a world plants a new flower in a garden of your own.
We designed and built Bloomwire ourselves in Flutter, from the first puzzle rules to the store listing, and we run it as a product: free to play, with no timers and no lives, an optional one-time purchase that removes the ads, and a website where the first bed can be played in the browser. It is published on Google Play through the Apprelika Developers account.
What makes it work
240 puzzles, each built and checked by hand, from gentle 3×3 starters to big, twisty beds
Eight garden worlds of thirty beds, each with its own road, its own scenery and a new idea to learn
A Journey map that redraws itself every time you cross into a new world
Three petals a bed: Bloom for solving it, Par for the fewest taps, Unaided for no hints
Heart beds: no hints allowed, and double petals for making par
A Daily Bloom, the same puzzle for everyone, with a streak that frost covers protect on a busy day
My Garden: every finished world plants a new flower to water and watch
No timers and no lives, and the board is kept when you leave
Every puzzle is inside the app, so it plays offline
Pin, Undo and free daily hints for when you are stuck
Reduced motion and high contrast options
Free to play; Quiet Garden is a one-time purchase that removes the ads between beds
A website where the first bed can be played in the browser
The challenge
A calm game is harder to make than a frantic one. With no timer and no lives to create tension, every puzzle has to be worth solving for its own sake, and every reason to come back has to be a kind one.
6 problems we had to solve, from content, learning design, UX design and more.
- 01 / 06Content
240 puzzles, every one fair
Each bed is built and tested by hand rather than generated. Every bed has a par, the fewest taps it can be solved in, and that par is always reachable, so three petals are hard to earn but never impossible.
- 02 / 06Learning design
One new idea per world
The game never stops to explain itself. Each world adds a single idea, tees, then bigger beds, the Pin tool, stones that never turn, crossroads, and gives thirty beds to get comfortable with it before the next one arrives.
- 03 / 06UX design
Calm by design
Nothing hurries the player and nothing is taken away. There are no timers, no lives and no energy to run out of, the board is saved the moment you leave, and reduced motion and high contrast are a switch away.
- 04 / 06Design
Kind reasons to come back
A new Daily Bloom arrives each day and builds a streak, but a frost cover protects it when life gets in the way. Finishing a world plants a flower in a garden of your own, which is a record of progress you can simply enjoy looking at.
- 05 / 06Monetization
Paying without pressure
The game is free. It shows an ad between some beds and offers optional reward videos, and a one-time purchase, Quiet Garden, removes the ads between beds for good. There are no lives to refill and no timer to pay your way past.
- 06 / 06Reliability
Works with no signal
Every bed ships inside the app, so it plays on a plane, on a train or in a dead zone exactly as it does at home.
6 of 6 solved
A puzzle game you can finish a bed of in a quiet five minutes, and still be learning from two hundred beds later.
